Delaney grew up in New Jersey before relocating to New England and then Rhode Island. His mother was a lifelong educator and his father a carpenter. Delaney graduated from college with a major in performance arts and writing. It was at college that he met his wife, a North Little Rock native. While living in Rhode Island he began his career working as a playwright, writing teacher, and an actor. He worked for the nonprofit organization The Manton Avenue Project, a kids’ playwriting organization that creates original community theater by linking professional artists with children from low-income neighborhoods.  While living in Providence, Rhode Island Delaney began work at the Roger Williams Park Zoo. Though he didn’t set out to find a career in science Delaney has always been fascinated by it and surrounded by it as his uncle is a palynologist (Studies Pollen) and his brother is a Marine biologist. While working at zoo he was primarily involved in educational presentation and interpretation. This helped to spark his professional career as he worked alongside many biologist and zoologist and he began to combine his storytelling skills and background with his scientific interests and curiosity. In 2011 Delaney and his wife moved to Little Rock to be closer to his wives family and began to work at the Museum of Discovery located in downtown Little Rock. Until 2017 he worked at the museum as a science presenter and helped to develop the popular adult program Science After Dark. It was during his time as director of visitor experience that The Museum of Discovery was named by the Mensa Society as one of the nation’s top 10 science museums.

Delaney’s rise to fame began in 2014 when “Tonight Show” producers contacted the museum looking for educators to work with Jimmy Fallon. The producers reached out to more than 50 museums across the country, however, Delaney was the only educator brought to New York for a test run. He has since made many episodes with Jimmy Fallon and is currently scheduled for more appearances. Along with his experience on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he has also made appearances with Rachel Ray, Last call with Carson Daly, and was recently the special guest judge on Food Networks baking show Buddy vs. Duff.  Delaney also starred as the lead actor and writer for the TV show Street Science on the Science Channel. When Delaney is not busy staring on various T.V. shows he has been in high demand across the country doing science demos and promoting the importance of science.
